The Executive Director of Jashabel Touch-A-Heart (JTAH) Foundation, Mrs. Favour Benson, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the nation’s security agencies for their unwavering commitment and coordinated efforts that led to the successful release of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Ahoro-Esiele community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Foundation, Mrs. Benson described the safe return of the victims as a welcome relief for their families, the people of Oyo State, and all Nigerians who had followed the unfortunate incident with deep concern.

The victims, comprising 39 pupils and seven teachers, were abducted on May 15, 2026, after heavily armed men attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, L.A. Primary School, and Community Grammar School in Ahoro-Esiele community.

Following nearly two months in captivity, the victims regained their freedom through sustained rescue efforts by the nation’s security agencies.

Mrs. Benson applauded President Tinubu for providing leadership and supporting efforts to safeguard the lives of Nigerians. She also praised Governor Makinde for his commitment, resilience, and close collaboration with security agencies throughout the rescue operation.

She further commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local security outfits, and every officer involved in securing the victims’ release, describing their professionalism and dedication as commendable.

As a child-focused and humanitarian organisation, Mrs. Benson noted that the successful rescue reinforces the importance of collective action in protecting children, schools, and vulnerable communities from criminal attacks.

She expressed joy over the safe return of the pupils and teachers and extended heartfelt congratulations to their parents, guardians, and the Ahoro-Esiele community. She also prayed for the victims’ speedy emotional and psychological recovery after their traumatic experience.

Mrs. Benson urged governments at all levels to strengthen security around schools and intensify measures aimed at preventing future attacks on educational institutions, stressing that every Nigerian child deserves to learn in a safe and secure environment.

She reaffirmed JTAH Foundation’s commitment to promoting child protection, supporting vulnerable families, and advocating for safer communities across Nigeria.
