The Katsina State Government has announced with profound sadness the death of Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who passed away while being held in bandits’ captivity.
In an official statement, the government described the incident as a heartbreaking loss not only to the deceased’s family and Katsina State but also to the entire nation. Despite sustained and coordinated efforts by the state government and various security agencies to secure his freedom, the mission unfortunately ended in tragedy.
According to the statement, the retired military officer died a natural death resulting from complications related to diabetes and hypertension while in captivity.
Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and Nigerians at large. He described the incident as a “dark moment” and a painful reminder of the urgent need for a united and intensified effort to combat criminal elements threatening the peace and security of communities.
The Governor reaffirmed the commitment of the Katsina State Government to continue working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure that those responsible for the crime are brought to justice. He also assured residents that the administration remains steadfast in its determination to eliminate banditry and safeguard lives and property across the state.
The government extended its thoughts and prayers to the family of the late Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar during this difficult period, praying that his soul rests in eternal peace.
