Akmodel Group Managing Director, Builder (Dr.) Abdulhakeem Odegade, in recognition of the World Day Against Child Labour, has joined global voices in calling for accelerated action to eliminate child labour in all its forms.
The theme for this year, “Progress Is Clear, But There’s More to Do – Let’s Speed Up Efforts,” acknowledges the progress made worldwide while challenging stakeholders to intensify their efforts.
In a statement released today, Dr. Odegade emphasized the urgent need for collective responsibility in building a future where every child can enjoy their rights to education, safety, and freedom from exploitation.
“At Akmodel Group, we believe that no child should be robbed of their childhood in the name of labour. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and live with dignity. While we commend the global progress made, we must remember – this is not the time to slow down. We must speed up our efforts and deepen our resolve,” Dr. Odegade said.
He further urged governments, businesses, civil society, and individuals to align their efforts in tackling the root causes of child labour, including poverty, lack of access to education, and weak enforcement of labour laws.
