The Vice President, Oil and Gas, Dangote Industries Limited, Mr. Edwin Devakumar, has assured prospective investors that the ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery presents a rare opportunity to participate in one of Africa’s most strategic and transformative industrial enterprises, adding that investors stand to enjoy significant value appreciation and attractive returns over the long term.

Mr. Devakumar stated that the refinery’s strong operational performance, growing market share, robust demand outlook, and strategic position within Africa’s energy value chain make it a compelling investment proposition for institutional and retail investors alike.

According to him, the refinery has started making profits and that it was established to end Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products, strengthen national energy security, conserve foreign exchange, create employment opportunities, and position the country as a major exporter of petroleum products to regional and global markets.

“The Dangote Refinery is one of the most significant industrial investments ever undertaken on the African continent. It addresses a critical gap in the energy sector while creating substantial economic value. Those investing in the refinery’s ongoing IPO are investing in a business with strong fundamentals, enormous growth potential, and a proven capacity to generate sustainable returns,” Mr. Devakumar said.

According to him: “The objective is not merely to raise capital. It is to democratise ownership of a strategic national asset and allow millions of Nigerians and global investors to participate in the value being created by the refinery. We believe this is an opportunity for investors to become partners in Africa’s industrial transformation story,”

Mr. Devakumar stressed that funds realised from the offering would support the company’s long-term growth initiatives, operational optimisation, expansion projects, working capital requirements, and strategic investments across the petroleum value chain.

He emphasised that the refinery’s integrated business model, advanced technologies, large-scale production capacity, deep-water port infrastructure, and extensive logistics network provide competitive advantages that are difficult to replicate anywhere in Africa.

“The refinery is strategically positioned to serve domestic, regional, and international markets. Demand for refined petroleum products across Africa continues to grow, and our scale, efficiency, and location provide a unique advantage in capturing these opportunities. This translates directly into long-term value creation for shareholders,” he stated.

Mr. Devakumar explained that the refinery’s ability to process a wide range of crude oil grades, coupled with its production of high-quality petrol, diesel, aviation fuel, liquefied petroleum gas, and petrochemical feedstocks, has created multiple revenue streams that strengthen the company’s earnings potential.

He further stated that the company remains committed to the highest standards of corporate governance, transparency, financial discipline, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence – factors that are critical to sustaining investor confidence and shareholder value.

Once the IPO is concluded and the shares listed, he said the company’s commitment to accountability and transparency will become even stronger.

“Investors will benefit from regular financial disclosures, strict governance standards, and a management team focused on driving sustainable growth and profitability,” he said.

Mr. Devakumar expressed confidence that the refinery’s future earnings potential, expanding export footprint, and strategic role in Africa’s energy security would continue to attract strong investor interest.

“This IPO represents more than an investment opportunity; it is an invitation to participate in a historic enterprise that is redefining the African energy landscape. We are confident that investors who subscribe to the offer will be well-positioned to reap bountiful returns as the refinery continues its growth journey and delivers value to shareholders,” he concluded.
