Panic at Access Bank as Employee Caught Filming Colleagues in Restrooms

An alarming incident has surfaced at Access Bank involving a staff member who reportedly recorded over 400 secret videos of colleagues-many in compromising situations-within the office restrooms.

Stephen Ifeanyichukwu Ejezie, a former Quality Assurance Specialist at Access Bank’s contact centre in Oniru, Lagos State, has been accused of secretly recording hundreds of his colleagues in the restrooms. Ejezie was reportedly caught around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday while attempting to film female staff members in the restroom, insiders told Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ).

According to sources, Access Bank ordered Ejezie’s arrest after the incident, and his residence was subsequently raided by the police. However, despite the gravity of the allegations, he has since been released from custody.

Though it appears that the bank has terminated his employment, many of the affected employees fear that they may never get justice. When FIJ first reviewed Ejezie’s LinkedIn profile early Friday, his employment status at Access Bank still appeared as active. However, within a few hours, he had updated the profile to reflect that he was no longer with the organisation.

Records indicate that Ejezie joined Access Bank as a contact centre agent in February 2023 and was promoted to Quality Assurance Specialist by October the same year.

Several staff members, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they worry the bank may avoid pursuing full legal action against Ejezie in order to protect its public image. “Perhaps it is because we are contract staff,” one employee said.

At the Access Bank contact centre, workers often operate in shifts, with some required to sleep at the premises and freshen up there. It was during such a period that Ejezie allegedly sneaked into the ladies’ restroom to plant recording devices.

A source described how a female staff member noticed a phone hidden inside a closed water closet seat recording her while she was bathing. Upon raising the alarm, colleagues forced the door open and discovered Ejezie hiding inside.

He reportedly claimed he did not know how he ended up in the women’s restroom but could not explain the videos. Further investigations revealed numerous recordings of male and female staff members stored on his devices.

Police officers later raided his residence and found over 400 videos of colleagues, some of which had allegedly been sold online. Sources said he operated an OnlyFans account and sold some of the recordings via Telegram to international buyers, including white and Indian clients.

Colleagues described Ejezie as someone who had built a reputation for being friendly and hardworking. “He was so cool and would always check up on people. No one could have suspected this from him,” said a former co-worker.

The incident has left many staff members panicking, with concerns that the leaked videos could surface online at any time. A meeting called by management on Friday morning failed to calm tensions, as workers were instead warned against staying overnight at the office and informed of the legal risks of similar future incidents.

However, some staff interpret the management’s actions as an attempt to downplay the incident.

“We are just contract staff and not really rated. If this blows up in the future when some of us are prominent or in politics, it will destroy lives. People are traumatised, and no support has been offered,” one affected staff member lamented.

As of press time, Access Bank did not respond to FIJ’s requests for comment.
