Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, the husband of Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has passed away at the age of 62.
According to a statement issued by the Adeosun family on Thursday, he died in Lagos on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The announcement, titled “Announcement of the Passing of Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun,” was signed by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family.
Describing the late Adeosun as a respected businessman and committed Christian, the family said he lived a life defined by integrity, generosity, unwavering faith, and dedicated service to both God and humanity.
“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.
The family noted that throughout his lifetime, he remained devoted to his family, faith, and community, leaving a lasting impact through his kindness, humility, and selfless service.
While expressing gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and condolences from friends, associates, and well-wishers, the family said details of his funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced in due course.
Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun, his children, and other family members, including his brother, Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.
The family prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and appreciated the continued support received during this period of mourning.
