The Guinness World Records (GWR) has finally confirmed Hilda Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, as the record owner of the longest cooking marathon record by an individual.
Hilda Baci had on May 11 2023 embarked on a cooking marathon to dash the previous record held by an Indian Chef, Tata Lala who cooked for 87 hours and 45 minutes in 2019.
In a confirmation tweet, the Guinness World Records said “Hilda Baci is now the official record holder for the longest cooking marathon”.

The feat drew the attention of many Nigerians, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, who lauded the 27-year old chef for her resilience and determination.
Meanwhile, another Nigerian Chef, Damilola Adeparusi, has embarked on another cooking marathon in Ekiti state as she plans to wrest the world record from Hilda Baci.
