Lagos, Nigeria – The Child Protection Network (CPN) Lagos State Chapter has successfully hosted its maiden Dinner and Awards Night, themed “Old Skool Nite”, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to child protection and community engagement.
The landmark event, described as both a celebration and a new beginning, brought together members and stakeholders from various Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), including Alimosho, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Surulere, Kosofe, Shomolu, Agege, Ifako, and Ketu, among others.
The evening also featured the recognition of outstanding individuals and organisations for their contributions to childcare and child protection. Among those honoured was Ngozi Okoro (Mama Child) celebrated for her impactful work in supporting vulnerable children,Igbogbo Bayeiku LCDA etc.
The National Coordinator of CPN, Olakunle Sanni, was also in attendance, lending further significance to the occasion.
Also present at the event were Favour Benson and Maureen Obire, representing the JTAH Foundation, further highlighting the collaborative efforts among organisations committed to child welfare and social impact.
Special commendation was given to the Lagos State Coordinator, Aderonke Mary Oyelakin, and the State Welfare Officer, Olajumoke Otitoloju, for their leadership and dedication in bringing the event to life.
The success of the maiden edition was driven by the Organising Committee, led by Bose Otukpe, alongside key members including Gloria Mathew (Secretary), Mrs. Anthonia Ojenagbon (Welfare), Chief Richard Amuwa (Technical Advisor), and Mr. Pender Samuel (Media/Graphics).
Adding vibrancy to the night were the event hosts, Opsy Mama and Abike Okin Queen, whose engaging presence kept the audience entertained, while the DJ ensured a lively atmosphere dishing out Old Skool sounds throughout the celebration.
The Old Skool Nite Dinner and Awards Night not only celebrated achievements within the child protection community but also set the tone for future initiatives, reinforcing CPN Lagos’ commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their well-being across the state.
