A new romantic drama, “To Adaego with Love,” is set to hit Nigerian cinemas on February 6, 2026. Set in 1975, it tells the story of a soldier and a schoolteacher from different ethnic backgrounds who fall in love amidst societal and familial challenges.
Their relationship-tender, forbidden, and deeply human is tested by tradition, family loyalties, and a country struggling to move forward.
Producer Brenda Ogbukaa-Garuba says the film is about “ordinary people choosing love” and “forgiveness, fragile hope, and quiet strength.”
Starring Chisom Agoawuike and Adam Garba, with an ensemble cast including Chioma Chukwuka, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Riyo David, Demi Banwo, Tonia Chukwurah and Six Foot Plus, the movie captured late Onyeka Onwenu’s final screen appearance.
Ogbukaa-Garuba adds, “This film honors Onyeka Onwenu’s legacy and shares a story we hope stays with audiences”.

Onyeka Onwenu slumped and died shortly on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, after performing at the 80th birthday party of Chief Stella Okoli, owner of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

Directed by Nwamaka Chikezie and executive produced by Tony B. Adesina, ‘To Adaego with Love’ blends intimate storytelling with rich cultural detail, offering a timeless love story rooted in Nigerian history.
