Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has ordered aviation regulators under his ministry to avoid making further statements or drawing conclusions amid the growing controversy between Air Peace and former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
Keyamo, in a post on his official X account on Friday, said: “I also directed the aviation agencies to exercise restraint in jumping to conclusions in line with the time-honoured legal principle of ‘hear all sides’ before reaching judgment.”
He further stressed the need for both parties – Oshiomhole and Air Peace – to ease tensions while proper investigations are underway. “Whilst appealing to both sides to halt the public accusations and counter-accusations, I am further directing the relevant aviation agencies to thoroughly look into the issue, collect all available evidence and revert to my office so we can deal with the issue in such a way as to guide future conducts in similar situations.”
The controversy arose after Oshiomhole was stranded at the airport, missing his Air Peace flight to Abuja. The senator alleged unfair treatment by Air Peace, while the airline insisted it was following standard boarding procedures.
This incident, which disrupted operations at the Zulu Terminal of the General Aviation Terminal in Lagos, has captured significant public attention.
Keyamo’s intervention signals a cautious approach by regulators, emphasizing fairness, impartial investigations, and resolution through due process.
