The House of Representatives has strongly criticized the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its handling of the case involving Mmesoma Ejikeme, who was accused of inflating her 2023 UTME result.
The lawmakers expressed their concerns about the manner in which JAMB withdrew the minor’s result and imposed a three-year ban on her.
In response, the House of Representatives has formed an adhoc committee to investigate the matter. They have also requested that JAMB refrain from taking any further action until the investigation by the House is concluded.
Mmesoma, in a viral video, explained that she obtained her result from the JAMB portal and was taken aback when she heard accusations of result forgery. She stated that she printed the result from the JAMB portal and expressed her distress at being accused of forging her own result, emphasizing that she is not capable of such an act.
JAMB, on the other hand, maintains that Mmesoma manipulated her result and insists that her claimed score of 362 was actually 249.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program, Mmesoma asserted that she should not be blamed for the controversy surrounding her result and expressed her dissatisfaction with the ban imposed on her, deeming it unfair.
Mmesoma’s father, Romanus, echoed her sentiments, stating that JAMB has treated his daughter unfairly. He mentioned that Mmesoma has displayed exceptional abilities since her primary school days. He further added that he has no intentions of seeking legal redress and has decided to leave everything in the hands of God.
