Celebrated Olympic boxer, Jeremiah Okorodudu, is dead.

The 64-year-old boxer died at a Lagos Hospital while awaiting amputation surgery.

A family source confirmed the death.
He further disclosed that the family is now in a dilemma as the hospital authorities have refused to release the corpse until an outstanding debt which is less than N1 million is cleared.

Jerry Okorodudu first retired professionally as a boxer in 1985, staged a comeback and retired finally in 1988.

He came into national limelight as a Gold Medalist at the National Sports Festival, Oluyole ’79.

He was a Bronze Medalist at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia.

He was defeated at the quarterfinals of the 1984 Olympic Games.

After his retirement, he coached some young boxers, some of whom later travelled abroad.
